📖 Lesson: Present Cont. Future

Definition

We use the Present Continuous for future arrangements described in a diary or calendar.

The 'Arrangement' Rule

It implies you have booked a time or place, or agreed with another person. It is more than just a plan.

Examples

  • "I *am seeing* the doctor at 4pm." (Appointment made).
  • "We *are flying* to Paris tomorrow." (Tickets bought).
  • "What *are you doing* this weekend?" (Asking about arrangements).

Mistake

  • Do not use 'Will' for arrangements.
  • Wrong: "I will see the doctor at 4pm."
